This trip has been amazing!  I am soooo tired from all the activities.  Scuba diving, lots of swimming, hiking, exploring, filming… and I did not get the chance to do all the things I wanted to.  :(        Next time.  :)

I finally got Scuba certified.  Which was amazing.

Swimming with the turtles… quite an awesome experience.

I did spend some time on the surface.

Here is my gorgeous friend Kerri and I walking down Papa’iloa Beach.

You’ll see more about my trip in the first episode.  Aloha!

Geocache 04 – 96817

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

N 21° 20.879 W 157° 49.403

Terrain: Trail. Not strenuous.
Cache Difficulty (1 – 5 being the hardest): Level 2
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii 96817

Notes: Jackass Ginger Falls. This is a very short hike off of a road along a beautiful flowing stream. The “falls” are not big, but there is a pool at the bottom to swim in. Parking is sparse and break-ins are common so do not leave valuables in your car. Be safe traversing the rocks. Enjoy!

Hints: You get NO hints.

Geocache 03 – 96791

Friday, July 17th, 2009

N 21° 34.831 W 158° 11.022

Terrain: Beautiful sandy beach.
Cache Difficulty (1 – 5 being the hardest): Level 1.5
Location: Waialua, Hawaii 96791

Notes: Ok, I made my brother drive me all the way to Dillingham Airfield from Waikiki. As a pilot, I like to see small airfields… I know they are not all that exciting for most people, but it holds some sort of fascination for me. Anyway, I had to leave a geocache behind to mark that I was there. Of course, as I was searching for a hiding spot, a car pulled up and parked. Really annoying when you are trying to do something stealthy without looking suspicious. Please don’t trespass on airport grounds looking for this one. And be mindful of the private property signs. This should be an easy find. Enjoy!

Hints: You get NO hints.

The past two weeks have been crazy!  We lost SIX (they go in threes) famous people.  Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, David Carradine, Billy Mays, Karl Malden and Ed McMahon.  Quite a devastating blow to the entertainment world.  May they all rest in peace.

My time spent not working the news has been consumed with the details of shooting my first episode.  Hawaii next week!  Scuba, sun, waterfalls, hiking, geocaching; gonna try and fit as much as I can into this trip.  I tested out my underwater camera housing last weekend.  I am fantastically pleased with it!  My brand new bikini, however, is not… functional.  Let’s just say indecent exposure.  Glad I tested it out first.

For all you helo pilots out there, I interviewed in a film project for HAI (Helicopter Association International) titled “Spotlight On: Women in Helicopter Aviation”.

I had a great time and was quite flattered to be chosen as an interviewee!

Now I am off for a live shot at the Staples Center.  Just one of the speculative places for Michael Jackson’s memorial.
