TODAY IS THE KICK OFF FOR MY “BIG TICKET ITEM” GEOCACHES! After many months of planning, I have officially hidden a geocache with a huge pay off for the first time find (FTF)! The FTF will receive a brand new Garmin Dakota 20… it’s better than my current GPS! I plan on leaving geocaches with big ticket items from time to time. I hope to be able to do this more regularly as I gain sponsors, so check back often… you never know what you may find!
I spent half the day with KTLA channel 5 news as they covered a story about geocaching and followed some of the local avid geocachers who boast over 3000 geocache finds each. I was able to take the KTLA camera operator up in a helicopter as we “extreme geocached”, and they followed me as I left my cache.
Here I am climbing into the front seat as we prepare for flight.
My friend and fellow pilot, Esteban Jimenez is spooling up the rotors and getting ready for take off!
After we hid the geocache and landed back at the airport, I did a short interview with reporter Cheryl Getuiza.
I have to say, KTLA has some of the most attractive reporters! Special thanks to KTLA and Cheryl Getuiza for their interest in our story.
I am super excited to hand over that Garmin Dakota 20 so get out there and find my geocache! I will feature you in my future episode about geocaching as the big winner. Can’t wait to meet you…
I’m on my way first thing tomorrow morning.
Caught you on the news…….you deserve success for all of your hard work, girl!!
Thanks, Kathleen, for all your support!
Hey Captain,
Has that cool Dakota 20 been claimed yet?
Thats one of the best FTF items you could find!
What geocaching name do you go by?
I could not find the hide on geocaching.com
Thanks
Hi Ken! Yes, someone has come forward to claim the GPS. I plan on leaving big ticket items periodically, so be sure to check back often. I am on Geocaching.com as “Captain T. Morgan”, although I did not post this cache on their website. I think it’s too close to another cache that is no longer there but not archived, so I can’t post it with them until they do.
I will eventually expand my site to send out alerts to those whom want to know when I leave a geocache. How soon will depend on my funding…
Thanks for participating!
I’ll keep an eye out for some of your caches sounds like you will have some fun caches to find.
